Great Hearts Breaks Ground at Blossom Rock
A major milestone has taken root at Blossom Rock! Community leaders, families, Great Hearts leadership, and project partners recently gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Great Hearts Blossom Rock—a tuition-free K-5 charter school opening Fall 2027.
Set against the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains, the event marked more than the beginning of construction. It celebrated a shared vision for education, connection, and the next generation of families who will call Blossom Rock home.
Building the Future
Guests gathered at the future campus site, where construction equipment and freshly prepared soil offered a first look at what’s to come. Representatives from Great Hearts, Brookfield Residential, the City of Apache Junction, project partners, and future families came together to commemorate the occasion. The celebration also highlighted the partnership behind the school. Brookfield Residential donated the five-acre site, making this the first Great Hearts campus in Arizona built on land donated by a developer.
When Great Hearts Blossom Rock opens, it will serve K–5 students, with plans to expand through eighth grade over time. The school will bring Great Hearts’ nationally recognized classical education model to families throughout Apache Junction, Pinal County, and the East Valley. The opening will also mark two significant milestones for Great Hearts: its 1st Arizona campus outside Maricopa County and its 25th academy opening during the organization's 25th anniversary year.
A School Designed for Generations
Just as Blossom Rock was envisioned as a place where families can put down roots and flourish, Great Hearts Blossom Rock is being designed as a place where students can grow intellectually, morally, and personally through the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
The academy will offer a classical curriculum that encourages students to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and develop a lifelong love of learning. With a focus on both character and academics, Great Hearts seeks to cultivate not only knowledgeable students, but thoughtful and virtuous future leaders.
The school's architecture is also being carefully designed to complement the beauty and character of Blossom Rock, creating a campus that feels connected to the surrounding community and landscape.
A Celebration for the Whole Family
While the groundbreaking marked an important construction milestone, it was also a celebration of community. Families enjoyed music, refreshments, face painting, balloon artists, and opportunities to connect with school leaders and neighbors. One of the highlights of the morning came when children received miniature hard hats and shovels of their own, giving them the chance to participate in the ceremonial groundbreaking and imagine the school they’ll one day attend.
Growing Together
The groundbreaking of Great Hearts Blossom Rock represents more than the start of construction, it reflects the exciting future taking shape throughout the community.
As new homes, parks, trails, amenities, and gathering places continue to emerge, the future academy will become an important part of everyday life at Blossom Rock, giving families the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow close to home.
When students begin arriving Fall 2027, they'll step onto a campus designed to inspire curiosity, character, and a lifelong love of learning. And as Blossom Rock continues to bloom, we're excited to welcome a school that will help future generations flourish right alongside our community.
